Memorial Day at the Church of Buckner

Last night I spent my hours in what must have been an old church way back in the day. It is now a venue for bands next to Schuba's on Belmont Street. Richard Buckner was the guest of honor. For those of you who don't know that name, he's an amazing folk-type singer who actually put a good chunk of Spoon River Anthology into songs! (For my Spoon River folk, you all should check this out.)

It was quite a spiritual evening, as far as spiritual evenings go. I almost didn't even go, but due to all the rain and being homesick for family bar-b-q's back home in Springpatch, we decided to venture out, and it was well worth it! (p.s. Schuba's has the best mac-n-cheese, I highly recommend it if you are a lover of the cheesy macaroni.)
