Mother Nature- Back On My Good List

Just wanted to give a little shout out to Mother Nature for cooling things down today. Dare I say it's chilly out? Yesterday I thought for sure that she was trying to kill me and it would have been quite tragic to have my tombstone read: Our beloved katy-who sweat to death because of the terrible heat.

I'd love to go for a long walk, maybe stop and get something delicious to drink, admire the beautiful flowers, perhaps pick one and put it in my hair...but alas! There is no time to be a romantic. I have friends coming into town tonight and I work all day which means I have the next 1.5 hours of my romantic morning to magically make my apartment clean. (The operative word being magically.)

So off I go! Nothing like starting off a beautiful morning with a bottle of Tilex...

Musings...

I'm ready for a big moment in my life...one of those breath taking, jump in the air, amazing moments, where you feel you've been given a second chance at life even if you weren't looking for one- a moment that good...the ultimate four leaf clover!

I'm ready moment!

Come and get me!

Where did the weekend go?

here I am!

...watching Ricky Lake, drinking some C2, and finishing off a bag of Haribo Gummi bears. I'm being a bum and no one can stop me!!!

I had to take Chester to the vet today. (For anyone who might not know, Chester is my little box turtle I've had for a year. He's my little pet.) Anyway, I noticed yesterday this gash on his leg! It looked swollen so I thought it best to take him in.

Yeah...anyone want to guess how much his little trip to the vet cost? What? Twenty dollars you say? Ohhh, don't humor me! I'm almost embarrassed to reveal it! But try something more like one hundred and eighty three dollars. And guess who's not joking...

I thought I was going to faint from shock!

On a brighter note, Cory and I finally ventured out to the amazing...the gargantuan...the "I feel as giddy as a school girl to be here!"...IKEA. For those of you who haven't been, just picture a store as big as maybe 4 or 5 Home Depots with the best deals ever on the cutest home items!! And you can even eat lunch there!! Now, is that up my alley or what? Let me tell you...I had a ball! A ball! And yes I am aware that this puts me in the That's A Little Weird category, and...I'm okay with that.

Ahhhhhh, it's been a long day and Sangria pitchers are only $7 at Andie's tonight. Hmmmm. Maybe I should give Wendy a call...

Wednesday with Wendy

Someone had a little bit too much Sangria last night. And yes...that someone was me.

My favorite red-headed friend, Wendy, suggested we go to Andie's for a little dinner and somehow, a 1/2 karaf of sweet Sangria ended up on our table!

Within an hour Wendy and I were back at my apartment, dancing to the Chicago soundtrack in my dark living room. And I mean the whole CD. Then we threw in The Cure for good measure. I think Cory was convinced that Wendy and I had finally fallen off the deep end. But we were just two gals, dancing around to Mr. Cellophane Man...in the dark. These things happen all the time-

The Reviews Are In!

Blue Man Group- Saw it. Loved it. And to top it all off, it was free! (Our neighbor friend hooked us all up with comp tickets.) The show was sensational from the chat tubes to the finally of toilet paper. Go see it. And then go get ice cream like I did. Mmmmmmmmmm, ice creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam!

Anchorman- This was not free, unfortunately, and even if it had been, it was pretty much a waste of time. There were a few parts which were very funny, but again they were few and far between. The cameo appearances did make me laugh pretty hard, I will admit, but that was really about it. So, wait until it comes out on video. Or don't. It's your money to waste how you like.

Midwives- I just finished this little gem of a book by Chris Bohjalian. It was quite a good little read if I do say so myself. The end left chills up my spine!!! I found my copy at the Brown Elephant for 50 cents, but it definitely would have been worth paying full price.

That's it from this peanut gallery. I'm off to schoooooool!

Side note

I've decided that maybe it's not that I actually look fifteen, but that the video store lady is actually on crack.

See, now doesn't that make a lot more sense? It's not like I had my retainer in or anything (no comments on that please)-Oh, and I forgot to mention -and this is really the icing on the cake- that when she told me this, I was standing right beside a 13-year-old. So, there's the whole "in context" issue. I might look young on my own, but could I really look fifteen while standing next to a girl who is actually thirteen??

I think not.

I also think I have a confession to make...and I'm not sure how ashamed I really feel about it. But several days ago...yours truly...picked up the phone and...(drumroll please!)...ordered something off of QVC! I know, I know...it's a little bit embarrassing...okay it's A LOT embarrassing. But I simply couldn't resist. Billy Blanks, (I know! I know! The story keeps getting worse) but Billy was on doing a Tao Bo special...and we all know how much I love my Tao Bo.

He was selling all 5 new DVD's for the low introductory price of only $24!!! How could I say no? If I went to the store to get them they would cost me, no exaggeration here, at least $20 a piece.

All 5 for $24!!!! Could it even be true?

Yes.

So I bought them. And they will arrive on Monday along with my free, red, weight balls, thank you very much- a little bonus for their loyal QVC customers.

Now if I could just win the lottery, my life would be complete!

Rolla High School, Here I Come!

I just got my official invitation to my 10 year high school reunion. Talk about a reality check! (Age-wise)

Funny, over the weekend I went to rent a movie and the check-out girl, who I found out later was my age, asked me how old I was. I told her I was 28 and she said, "Wow! You look sooooooooo young! I seriously thought you were like, 15."

Fifteen....Fifteeeeen? Now, I know I look young, but FIFTEEN? Come one, now. And if I really do look 15 at times, I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

Rabbit Rabbit

Happy July 1st! The crazy birthday month of June is finally over and summer is here! I know this because it is now officially too hot to sleep without the a/c on. And guess who doesn't have a/c yet????

And...I'm still sick with this stupid cold. Nothing like waking up at 6am, alone on the couch with your arm hugging a box of tissues. Hopefully I'll be better by this weekend because the Kidder family I used to babysit for in Tennessee is coming to Chicago for a visit! I'm really excited to get to see them.

And now it is time to call the doctor. I have to make an appt. to get a TB shot being that I am an employee at a pre-school. Fun! Fun!

Oh, I finished the book Cold Mountain and...I should have just seen the movie.
